Behold! The magic sweetie jar

When I was little we used to visit my grandparents every weekend. We would have little rituals like gran would sit with us in the kitchen infront of the two bar heater & play happy family snaps. With grandad we would shout at the wrestling greats like big daddy & giant haystacks, pick veg from the patch in the garden, catch butterflies in jam jars with holes in the lid, go for a walk up the park and shout pat! When we saw a cow pat & sit on a tree branch while grandad shook it up & down. Pull strange creatures out of the brook while grab cooked pie & boiled potatoes.

But the best thing about gran & grandads was the magic sweetie jar!

We would get into the house pass the old black telephone with a dial & fabric covered cord we were never allowed to touch into the kitchen. Gran would ask my mum if we had been good this week. More offen than not I had been naughty but mum always said yes or mostly.
(Always dreaded mum saying no)

Then me and my brother were allowed to go in to the pantry & look in the magic sweetie jar.

Magic sweetie jars are always magicly full of sweets!

Mostly dolly mixtures or rubarb & custard maybe humbugs.

But always full of sweeties. We were aloud to share the contents of the jar to our delight.

This is the magic sweetie jar. It now sits on my bookcase in my living room & is magicly always full of sweeties.

Glad the sweetie fairies are still around as I have been a good girl :)
