Through the hole

A view through the hole where one of the burners normally is situated.
The thing with the dots on it is the so-called transition piece (TP) which makes the connection between the liner on which the burner itself is placed and the first stage nozzle ring. This ring with blades is cooled with air coming from the compressor of the gasturbine. The air flows around the nozzles through small holes which lead the air from the inside of the nozzle to the ouside.
The nozzles have to be cooled because the temperature of the fluegas coming out of the burners is about 1256°C (appr 2294°F).
At the left you see a so-called bullhorn on which the TP is mounted.

At the right is an orange tarpaulin to protect the open gasturbine from things falling inside....

Meanwhile it was nice at the roof. (the smoke is coming from the chimney of unit EC 20)

Later this evening we saw this sunset....
