Remembrance Day

On may 4th in Holland we remember and honour all who have lost their lives in the second world war. At least it was like that untill a few years ago. Now we remember and honour all that have lost their lives in any war, cause there have been a few more since.
As every year there was a silent walk wich is joined by hundreds of citizens of Groningen, from the Jewish Monument to the city center. The people walking are accompanied by drummers. For many years the Canadian former combatants that helped to free our city ( Holland was liberated by American, British and Canadians, but the city of Groningen was libarated thanks to the Canadian forces) joined every year, but the few of them left are now to old to join. Near my home a forrest was created in honour of the Canadians that libarated the city, it's called Freedom Forrest.
The Dutch national colors is hanging half mast, as at many homes in the city. At eight o clock we are silent for two minutes.

When I'm able I join the silent walk because we may never forget.....
