Bialowieza primeval forest
Bialowieza is one of the last primeval forests of Europe, untouched by man. This is what northern Europe must have looked like centuries ago, before man arrived. An amazing place, if you enter the forest it is like you enter another world. This forest is home to thousands of fauna species and the oldest and tallest trees of Europe.
Somewhat crude is that the only reason it is still untouched is that a former SS officer thought it made for good hunting grounds for after the war, ordering the protection of the area.
It's a shame only a small part is truly primeval and protected.
