Windows on the world.

Bad start t the day when Pogle decided to bite my nose. No idea what he was up to, but I put it down to him seeing his own reflection in my specs. Must admit I squealed a bit, but only a small mark. Upside is that I can now honestly trivialise everyone's minor complaints by saying that "I've had more on the point of my nose!".

Trip up to Aberdeen was uneventful. For the first time in ages it felt a bit like a homecoming. As son as we passed Stonehaven, I began to imagine the smell of sea air, the fish markets and rowies. The guys headed off to Forbidden Planet for the usual holiday splurge on graphic novels and I wandered around John Lewis looking for red buttons. (After trying to pick up cafe curtains for the kitchen window in vain, I've opted to make them myself and I wanted the buttons to add a bit of detail on the header tabs).

Was also great to be back and hear the accent again. I've missed it on so many previous visits as the influx of people to work in the oil industry seemed to swamp the local dialect. All in all it seemed to be going well until we headed for the beach. I nipped down onto the sand to take some photos and the guys soon joined me.

Not long before a really playful puppy bounded up to a little girl playing just along from us. She seemed pleased to see it at first and began clapping it - then her mother got involved. She started kicking the dog and chasing it along the beach to do so. Then she started having a pop at the owner who was trying to contain the situation and who ended up having her photo taken by the woman who was already on the phone and threatening to report the puppy's "vicious attack" to the police.

Now she may have been terrified of the puppy, but the dog was cowering after the first kick and still the woman kept at her. In truth the owner should have reported her, but she was more concerned about her dog (who I found out was fine when I gave her a cuddle later on). So, we gave our details to the owner just in case it went any further and we left for home soon after.

Caught this one somewhere round about Brechin. Not my favourite of the day, but I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get a shot through three car windows moving at 60mph again... so here it is!
