Bank Holiday Outing

We have a thing in this family. We can't just pick somewhere to go, we have to all put ideas in a hat & we do whatever is drawn out. The kids love this system & keeps them busy, sometimes for hours.

Hawkstone Park was drawn out for todays trip out. Put in by husband. We'd never been there before & didn't really know what a treat was ahead.

Hawkstone Historic Park & Follies is a unique place. Created in the 18th Century by the Hill family (Sir Rowland and his son Richard), Hawkstone became one of the greatest historic parklands in Europe.

Centred around the Red Castle and the awe-inspiring Grotto Hill, it gave us hours of delight and stunning views of the Shropshire countryside and beyond. Hawkstone follies is a historic parkland that covers 100 acres. Intricate pathways, ravines, arches and bridges, the towering cliffs and follies, the hermit in his hermitage (who was a bearded man, in sack cloth telling tales to children) and King Arthur addressing his troops in the awesome caves.
