Pluses of no rain for most of April
+ No muddy pawprints on the car bonnet
+ Nice blue-sky days
+ No need to mow the lawn as it doesn't grow

Minuses of no rain for most of April
- Garden very dry
- Trees beginning to die
- Water restrictions threatened

Interesting points associated with no rain for most of April
? Leaky roof doesn't get dealt with - out of sight, out of mind
? Lots of domestics get 'overlooked' in an effort to conserve water....
? You know the rain will come - but when and how much is anyone's guess



So when the rain did arrive at the end of last week the leaky roof let me know it still hadn't been dealt with - and in a much bigger way than previously, suggesting the leak had somehow got bigger :( I owe a huge debt of gratitude to friends L & M who came around today to fix the source of the problem...........if only we could find it!!

L - bless him! - was the one who did all the clambering onto the roof and squeezing into the attic space to try to locate the problem. He found a number of roofing nails that had lifted so off we tootled to go buy some more. Then, with the assistance of the hose to simulate rain from all directions he proceeded to test the fixes..........

Still the roof leaked - although I do think that the volume has been cut back drastically. Having exhausted all avenues to locate the leak though I now just have to wait until the next lot of rain to see whether the new nails and gunk have fixed it.......

At least autumn leaves don't mind whether it rains or not!!
