Mustard and California Oak

When the Catholic missions were established in California (the New World) by the Spanish explorers from Mexico, the padres of the church threw mustard seed along their routes so others after them would find their way to the new missions up and down the coast. These original mustard seeds have spread throughout the west and can be found everywhere. When the light is right, they seem to reflect the sun with unbridled energy. They are pretty, but very intrusive.

Shortly before sunset in California.

Enjoy!
