Hulme Hall with tulips

More lovely tulips on a sunny morning. It stayed dry all afternoon for our annual plant sale today, very lucky. As I was taking this photograph I heard the little boy coming up the road say that this village was "just like the olden times", and so it is.

The building behind the flowerbed is Hulme Hall, where many different kinds of events are held. Its claim to fame is that The Beatles played here for the first time with Ringo in the band - they were the entertainment for the annual garden club dinner dance. Today we launched this year's garden competition, but I think it's unlikely we will have such a good band at our prize-giving in October!
