My new best friend?

Well, if not it will at the very least be my new best acquaintance. I actually bought this hulk of a book from a great little used book shop at Christmas assuming that I'd get around to using it one day. I had a good page through it when I got home tonight and it is very thorough indeed! And no doubt despite the fact that it is over 30 years old, the techniques will be just as relevant today. It will especially be handy now that my dressmaking course starts in two weeks!

Perhaps I'm taking a picture of this because I went along to see a dressmaker today about making my bridesmaid dress (as I have never made a dress though aspire to one day) and it's way pricier than I thought. Just can't bring myself to pay over £300 (essentially $500) on a bridesmaid dress when I spent just over that on my own wedding dress! I appreciate how talented these dressmakers are but I just can't do it! Curse the lack of orange evening dresses in the shops. Maybe I'll have a go making one myself afterall?...
