Jake's Journal

Strange day.

It was a strange day today. Having been out the night before until the later of the 'wee hours' I didn't wake up until the afternoon. I felt guilty when I looked out the window and saw the blue skies and all the students walking past in summer clothes. So I went for a walk. Back down towards the harbour. It started raining, heavily. The skies were mottled with piercing light blue and dense, heavy grey. I took pleasure in the unusual weather; rain from blue sky, heat from grey cloud. I ran my hand down a metal rail and the water made it cold. I disturbed the seagulls on the pier; no-one really like seagulls anyway. I ate a Fruit Pastille ice lolly as I walked down the street. And instead of hiding in shop doorways or wynds, I embraced the rain and the fact that I was going to get wet and enjoyed it immensely. It was almost like a detox from the night before, all the alcohol being washed from me. Refreshed.
