Quick one today as I'm off to Hong Kong for a long warm May weekend.

When the weather's good the old folk bring out their birds to chat to each other. I can't decide if this is nice, or torture- I have very mixed feelings about birds in cages. Their singing was lovely though, and this is such a typical Beijing (or at least, my neighbourhood of Beijing) sight that I thought it was worth showing. In the colder weather, you often seen men swinging the blue-covered cages as they walk.
