A carpet maker

There are many local carpet makers in the villages near the Indus valley in Layyah. Typically four people work 15 hours a day for 4-5 months to finish a carpet. These carpets are bought at cheap prices by local dealers and exported to other countries where they are in high demand. Carpet makers get 30 to 35 thousands rupees (nearly 400 euros) in total for their hard effort.
A rough calculation tells each person gets a daily wage of mere 60 rupees (nearly 75 cents) which is almost nothing even according to the poverty standards of Pakistan. It's hard to imagine they are paid so less when you see them putting each and every single thread of carpet. Four workers can make, at maximum, only two inches of carpet in a day.
