Kookaburra"s chewing the fat

These are lovely birds ,they can become quite tame but are a trifle dim.I have seen one take a fried nae frying egg of a BBQ then try and kill it by bashing it as it would a wee snake or insect.
A month or so ago there were 5 Kookaburra's sitting on our pool fence taking turns for a dip this is quite common among our local bird life in the late afternoon. They have a very quick dip then they are gone .
But on this occasion they kept on egging (npi) each other on till they had all been in about 4 times on the the Faith occasion the biggest and very soggy Kookaburra floundered and could not get out and was starting to sink ,that was when he started to panic and with all his strength managed to drag himself out the side .
Have not seen them back since .
Now I leave a door Matt half in half out so any animals can gat out .
8 months ago a Bandicoot drowned in the pool ,very sad .It was like a minature hairy Kurt Cobain.(www.environment.nsw.gov.au/animals/bandicoots.htm )
But since the door Matt no more fatalities.
Oh except worms ,when its been very heavy rain ,say 150 mls over a few days they commit mass Harakiri ,still at a loss to why ,maybe the ground is to wet
