Big Blue!

Set up this morning to blip (with luck) some of the activity at our bird feeder. A beautiful yellow finch visited before I had the tripod/camera set. Of course, by the time I was set, he was gone! So, patiently I remained on alert. That's when 'Big Blue' arrived.

BB, my nickname for the Great Blue Heron, is a species that we see fly into our pond quite often, especially in warmer weather. It is a huge bird - adults measure around 50" in height - a beautiful sight at close range. This one conveniently fed near enough for me to get a number of shots (through our glass doors). As many times as we see these birds, they never cease to impress.

Maybe some bird feeder visitors will 'sit for a blip' in the near future.
