My Cell

This is my space, my cell for the past three days.
It should be a productive place...quiet and comfortable
But it has become a snake pit of distractions
Vipers slither out from the Internet
Coiling Pythons luring me into their lair of Facebook pages and wall posts
Rattling tails announcing new E-mail that must be viewed without haste
Random thoughts that won't recede until they have been Googled
Headlines and photos of exploding oil rigs
reams of asinine comments by an ignorant public
Calls for a moment of silence for the fallen
Flying purple mice being my only joy
How will I ever get my work done here.
