Bing!

This is quite literally a bing. The number 9 bing i believe. This is an old spoil heap left over from the opencast mine works in Coalburn village.

Coalburn is a strange little place and I'd Challenge anyone to say its an attractive part of the country. It's one of those Little towns you get in this part of Scotland that grew up around the mine works and lead nowhere. You don't pass through Coalburn to get to anywhere else. It's the end of the road. You might as well put 'Here Be Dragons' on the map and have done with it.

I wasn't intending this to be my 'Picture Postcard' - i was actually on my way to another place but I'll keep that for later - but i looked out the car window and saw the rain sweeping across the wasteland and suddenly realised i hadn't looked at the Bing properly in years.

There are plans afoot to level the Bing and build 400 houses on the site and surrounding area. No.9 is the only one thats left now and to be honest I'd be sorry to see it go.

Not the best quality picture i know but again i reckon thats the camera and for some reason the pictures came out really small - Dunno why, sorry.
