A Dog's Dinner

An Afternoon With the Ghosts

I've spent most of the afternoon sorting out the family snaps. Mostly photographs of dead people but not at all depressing, in fact the opposite very happy and uplifting.

Like every family in the world they were mostly taken on holiday or birthdays - so there's lots of fixed smiles and exaggerated posing and standing in front of the new car. The Consul, the Anglia, the Cortina, the Rover 2000TC, the Allegro.

Then there was the holidays, Largs, Whitley Bay, Cornwall, Jersey, New York . it's all there. a snapshot of post war Britain.

I've noticed that you don't really get that many work based photographs until the advent of the digital camera. Cameras were special thing and film was expensive so you didn't shoot off loads and loads just kept it for special occasions.

I must start printing photographs again - I've said this a dozen time but never done it.
