Lest we forget
ANZAC Day here in New Zealand - a day of remembrance for those who have fallen in the line of duty. Whatever your views on conflict ( bit of a pacifist myself, or try to be) It is incredibly moving to attend these services to acknowledge those who fought for something they may or may not have believed in themselves. Some vague idea of equity in a far off continent that had little to do with them in their ordinary lives.
This year Murch's memorial had a bit of a spruce up - only to be defeated by the rain and the service was held in the RSA hall instead. I was heartened to see several children at the service - am relieved to know that some of the next generation choose to remember too.
