Day 4 - Chinon

After a lazy day on Sunday we ventured further, heading first for the castle and old town of Chinon, then to Fontevraud Abbey. Walked around the ramparts of the castle in Chinon and built up an appetite for a superb lunch in an excellent restaurant. Sat on the terrace and devoured the most devine main course - duck in cherry and (local) red wine sauce. The sauce was incredible. Three courses, bread, wine and coffee for 15 euros. Rip off....

Did our first bit of wine tasting in Chinon too and snapped up half a dozen bottles of the local wine. Four of them was a white wine that had only been bottled the week before, and which tasted incredible. We'll be keeping those for a while.

After ambling around the abbey we headed back to the gite for more boule / Scrabble / fine food and wine.
