The Magaliesberg

I bought the book: The Magaliesberg, by Vincent Carruthers! What a gem!! It records the history of our beloved mountain range, which features só often in my pictures, because we are completely surrounded by them!

According to James Clarke, who wrote the Foreword, they are incredibly ancient, almost 100 times older than Everest, it is in fact thousands of millions of years old and holds the secret of the origins of mankind!

A couple of weeks ago the fossils of a new hominid species that lived 1,95 million years ago, a young woman and a child, were discovered at the site of the 'Cradle of Humankind', in our Magaliesberg Mountains! Read more about it here!!
