Fold, Fallow, and Plough
I love the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins:
Pied Beauty
Glory be to God for dappled things -
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnet-falls, finches wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced - fold, fallow, and plough;
And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.
I went out for a cycle in the morning and saw the jetstreams of the first jets steaming towards Dublin Airport, after nearly a week. I wonder if my sister and family are on one of them.
