Our five mile world

By hazyheap

Out of this world!

.................and we are out of ours!!!
Not often do we roam away from home. mainly because we love it but also because we look after both our mums aka the 'Golden Girls' who also live with us.

Bill's mum will be 91 in August and my mum 80 in June. They take a great deal of caring and prefer us to be around. We are restricted in our travels!
So, we have a lovely live-in house-sitter/carer called Sue come to take care of them, plus the hens, dog, plants, etc while we are off on a jolly.

Visited the Falkirk Wheel today. It was a £84.5m project that has restored navigability across Scotland on the historic Forth & Clyde Canal and Union Canal.

It links the Forth and Clyde Canal, which lies 35m (115ft) below the level of the Union Canal. Historically, the two canals had been joined at Falkirk by a flight of 11 locks that stepped down across a distance of 1.5km, but these has been dismantled in 1933, breaking the link.

They have connected these two canals by way of a boat lift which has created a truly spectacular and iconic symbol for years to come.

Dull, wet, dreich day, with spring showers.

Cosied up in our wee hotel room watching a DVD and sipping pink fizz!!!

Back to reality tomorrow.
