Stay!

Our wonderful butcher Theo sent our dog a present this morning - 3 huge bones! Two will go in the freezer and one is today's ticket to dog heaven. Just look at the size of that bone!

As part of Mia's discipline we make her lie down and 'stay' until we give her the signal to approach her bone and disappear down the garden to enjoy it under her special tree. One minute of waiting torture followed by hours of bliss. We've also trained her to 'drop it' on command. She sighs but obeys immediately. Doing this might sound mean to some, but pit bulls are considered one of the dangerous breeds over here and we take dog ownership seriously. She has a great life today compared to the unhappy one she led when we rescued her 2 years ago.
