Popped into Leith's premier shopping precinct this morning, and was struck by how odd the big blue needle - the Narwhal Monument, apparently - is. This shiny folly looks as if it might have fallen off a passing spaceship. Still, it makes a handy graffiti message board.

So Queen Victoria, are you amused, or what?
