When bad things go good!!
The story....
Late afternoon appointment in town. Driving home along waterfront at rush hour (lol! marginally slower 20 minutes!). Sun going down over bay - beginning to look very promising for a good sunset shot.
Choice - sit in traffic and crawl for a couple of kms or park for 20 minutes and take walk along waterfront with camera to see what sun does. No brainer - park 'n' walk wins hands down.
Adjust camera settings to cope with shooting into sun. Shots not looking so inspiring afterall......
...then.....
...this wee shag/cormorant comes paddling along right below me. Quickly adjust my position so I can get some of the sun's rays on him but forget to adjust camera settings.
Shag dives down into water then emerges a few metres further on and snap........just as he pops to the surface and shakes his head to clear the water. And all of this captured on a (I thought!) w-a-y too slow shutter speed!
Looking at it now though I feel it was a lovely mistake to make! Kind of gives a new meaning to having a 'brain explosion' doesn't it?
