The school friend
Some beautiful moments today: Callum calm during circle time at Reuben's school and going to sit on teacher's lap instead of clinging to me, lots of photographs as I try to capture shots of all the parents as Reuben's graduation presents, Reuben holding the feeding tube for me as I give him water (best start with water, then formula as after 2 minutes holding the syringe and tube he decided it was much more fun emptying out the tube than being still), Reuben sitting on Callum and making him yell in a way I remember my brother Peter doing to my brother Joseph when we were growing up til Joe said "give in". I'm not sure Joe ever got his own back on Pete despite him being 6'4". Oh how I long to show them what my boys are up to in a couple of weeks when I get back to London. The boys helping out round the house, sweeping the floors together, and Callum miraculously completing 2 puzzle boards which leads me to believe Reuben Aged nearly 3 must have taught him, as we've practiced these skills long and hard for his assessments. And a huge bubbly, natural Bert's Bees bubble bath so they're both smelling gorgeously of lavender as I get them to bed, the sticky, stinky smell of the day's play that I love now dissipated in the bath water.
And now for my glass of wine and my 1st look at the Secret Diary of a Call Girl DVD from my movie club. I don't have TV so it's nice, on occasion, to get something trashy to watch, just curl up under the cashmere plush and relax. For tomorrow, is another day.
Technical note: I used to take so many pics of Reu like this when he was born 3 years ago, cropped with the lens rather than the computer and though I still almost always crop by lens, it's lovely to revisit a style I tried to make my own back then in portraiture. Left soft edited, right SOOC. Pre collage Boy's chin is fully in the pic but the collage size cut it out and I canny be bothered at this time to choose another size. Stunning eyes, hair and skin. Simple Picasa collage like Mama used to make. I can't help but think what a gorgeously romantic, nostalgic look this lovely boy has. It took the camera and my many shots to bring it to me.
