Make Poverty History
Walk down most High Streets today and you are likely to be approached by an earnest and enthusiastic person asking you to sign up for their charity.
I have already made provision for my charitable giving and so I politely decline.
Today I was in London and as usual I walked from Euston to the office and back again, clocking up just over 13000 steps today. I enjoy the walk as there is always so much to see even though I take the some route.
As I came out of the station this morning there was a handmade placard tied to a lamp post and a couple of bunches of flowers. This was a memorial to the regular Big Issue seller who stood on this pitch with his dog. I guess that this must be one of the best pitches with a great deal of footfall coming and going to the station. The inscription was simple: Dermot will be sadly missed.
This evening when I retraced my steps there was another Big Issue seller there with his dog. Business is business and life must go on.
