By The Monument

A shot of the sun shining behind the Scott Monument this morning.

The design for this Monument was decided by a competition. This was won by a joiner named George Kemp. Unfortunately he never saw his design in all it's glory as he fell in to the Union Canal and drowned a few months before it was completed. Be sure to spare a thought for Mr Kemp the next time you pass.
