More from the pond

As mentioned in previous blips, our pond is teaming with all sorts of wildlife - alligators, fish, ducks, herons, an occasional otter, and today - turtles!

On sunny days they go to the banks of the pond to bask in the warmth. Some of our neighbors feed them and the turtles come quickly to waters edge when the food is brought out.

There are days when I've counted as many as several dozen turtles. How they escape the 'gators' food chain, I don't know - sadly, some probably do not. Survival of the fittest I suppose - nature's method of balance.
