Swimming Against The Tide

By ViolaMaths

Been to Iceland!

I'm sorry, I know it's dreadful, but it just had to be done. Here's my contribution to the topical water-cooler subject of the day, with apologies to all who are stranded somewhere when they would rather be somewhere else!

I have indeed been to Iceland - both the shop and the country. This blip shows:

1. A carrier bag from the shop. The Wonderspouse was recently after some turkey drummers (which I don't eat) and I succumbed to some scampi (for that retro-food experience) and a frozen apple crumble!

2. A piece of volcanic rock from the country. My Mum took us to Reykjavik for New Year several years ago. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights (one of the greatest and best experiences of my life) and also to spend an evening bathing in the Blue Lagoon. I extracted this bit of rock by tucking it into my swimming costume!!!

I have to say, I feel terribly sorry for all those whose lives are being so badly disrupted by all this volcanic ash business, but there is also an inner geologist in me that is totally fascinated and rather excited by the whole thing.
