Abandoned

Through out this part of the country are abandoned farms. Derelict buildings struggle to stay upright and dignified in face of the constant winds and weather, endless lines of fencing clogged with tumble weeds stretch to the horizon and beautifully crafted farm implements lie forlorn and alone.....there is a certain beauty in it all, especially as it hunkers down under the SKY.

We took the rental car off the main road, down a dirt road to an old homestead, the house no longer had windows and the out buildings were roofless. The windmill was still working pumping up water to the small but healthy herd of cows.

This piece of equipment was lodged in the sod and was not going anywhere, the old iron blasted smooth. In the background you can just make out some old barbed wire.

Hopefully, we will be heading home tomorrow, the dust might have settled.
