Door-knocker, Urfa, southeastern Turkey
I was very taken with this door-knocker on the front of a house for sale in the old town of Urfa, The house which lies behind it is very attractive, too, Built round a courtyard, as all the old houses in this part of Turkey are, it has lemon trees, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a lavatory, and four other rooms, some with vaulted ceilings. There is also a cellar and large roof terraces, where the locals sleep outside in the (very, very hot) summer.
The price of all this is about 20,000 pounds sterling, It would need some work, but the kitchen and bathrooms are modernised and liveable with.
I have been offered a job here in Urfa, which is why I'm looking at houses. Maybe, just maybe, I might come and live here for a while,,,
