The Lozarithm Lens

Avebury

I think I have stood at this spot and composed variations of this very shot a number of times over the years at different times of the day and in different seasons, and I suspect that thousands of visitors have probably done the same. There is just something about the mix of 5,000 year old stone and the little traditional pub, the Red Lion, in the distance.

The stone, of course, is part of the stone circle complex there, a World Heritage Site, and an inspiration for innumerable reasons. It lies about seven miles from where I live, and from this spot one can see the Lansdowne Monument, which is also visible from the other side at my house, so I feel somehow connected to it.

There's a black and white standing stone in Extras.
