Look what the cat dragged in...
...again!
About 5 days ago my cat killed a mother squirrel (you could tell because of the nipples were protruding through the fur). This morning I caught him in the back garden trying to devour the head of what I could only assume was one of her babies. Later this afternoon I heard a squeaking sound coming from the hallway and sure enough there he was with another baby squirrel in his mouth. After kicking the cat out of the house and of course a quick blip I released him to a neighboring tree. I honestly don't think he'll survive. While there are some cats that are indoor cats our cat is a true working cat and really belongs on a farm. About five years ago during the Halloween season he managed to bring into the house 2 bats. The first one he killed and was in the process of eating him when we caught him and the other was taken to our vet which he was later released back into the wild a little shaken but unharmed. While feeling festive that Christmas he brought us a robin. We are still waiting for the Easter bunny but I'm sure he'll get around to it. While our family is devastated by our cats actions of wiping out an entire family of squirrels we tend to forget that these are brought into the house as gifts from our cat and no matter how fluffy and cute squirrels are at the end of the day they are vermin. Anyone want a working cat?
