Arrived in Kyoto in the evening and had some delicious yakiniku in this small cozy restaurant. We found the place by following the smell of grilled meat. The black coating on the walls and in the ceiling is not paint. It's grease from the grilled meat that has been gathering there during the many years of operation. I bet the owner's lungs are covered with a similar layer...
