Evening swanlight

Out with friends Derek and Rita in Ashbourne this evening for lovely food and chat and good company. The after-effects of the Icelandic eruption naturally featured in conversation, and reference was made to mention on radio or TV about ash in the upper atmosphere possibly resulting in a spectacular sunset. So Derek and I went on a sunset mission to Slane, up the road from Ashbourne in Co. Meath.

We spent half and hour or so around the bridge and the weir. The sunset was nothing special, really, but it did scatter nice golden light on the water. This wan was blissfully unaware of what was happening in Iceland and in the upper atmosphere and at airports.

It was really nice to get out for a bit with Derek and our cameras, though I must admit to suffering from a bit of lens and camera envy as D clicked away with his Olympus. Ah well, we can't have everything, now can we, and envy isn't a good emotion. Still ...
