The day the sky went quiet
I read something on the internet last night about airports in Norway being closed due to Volcanic ash from Iceland. I went to bed not thinking much more about it and woke up this morning to find pretty much the whole of the UK suffering from the same problem.
It was bizarrely quite exciting, although I say that as someone who wasn't due to fly at any point.
At lunchtime the smell of sulphur was very strong in Aberdeen. Smelt like blocked drains.
On 5 Live at lunchtime there was an Icelandic man who claimed that last time there was a volcano like this in Iceland in the 1800's, it lasted 2 years. I hope he's wrong.
As a local radio presenter I'd like to thank Iceland for providing my content for this afternoon. I presented a Volcano special. Highlight was Volcano related songs. Damn, I wish I was your Lava by Sophie B. Hawkins or Europtown Girl by Billy Joel were the worst best
