A Nice Surprise
Went up to Weirwood Reservoir today, thought I would try the Dam end as opposed to my usual area, plenty of migrants in evidence with ChiffChaffs in song, Blackcaps, a few Swallows and an early Whitethroat, all being too flitty to Blip. After just over an hour of being lost alone to the birdsong, I heard Peep, Peep, Peep, strange, I turned round just in time to see yet another migrant, a Little Ringed Plover fly in low over the water and land on the dam wall. He obligingly decided to stay and allow himself to be blipped. Hopefully a mate will arrive and they will be able to breed at the Reservoir as has been the case in the last couple of years
