Mystical Moss

I was actually trying to take a picture of our first apple blossom, but for some reason my camera wouldn't focus.

This moss caught my attention and was such a cooperative subject! And, so very beautiful to me.

I love moss. It reminds me of all that is mystical, fairies, Lord of the Rings, wood sprites and other fantastical realms.

Sometimes when I'm walking in the woods, I find large patches of moss and I can't help but stop and stroke it, feel its texture and imagine it being the carpet of magical beings.

I had a difficult childhood and my escape was daydreaming and imagination. I loved fairy tales and made up my own stories. When my daughter was young, we'd walk through the forest and look for fairy houses, and places where fairies played. These are some of my favorite memories:)

Later this year, I'll try to capture a photo of moss in bloom, with tiny little flowers you might not notice if you weren't attuned to the world of moss.
