All that scratchin's making me itch

Sometimes there are songs that you've been listening to for so long that they have just become part of the soundtrack to your days. Especially now with the ipod. Songs will shuffle around every so often and you don't really listen to them properly.

A couple of weeks ago on the wonderful Radcliffe and Maconie Show* they played Double Dutch and after said that when the first "ebo ebonette" comes in it's one of the most joyous moments in music. So I have been listening to it properly on the ipod over the last couple of weeks. And it is a really infectiously joyful song. And the video is great fun too.

I listened tonight to Buffalo Girls. Again, this is a song that I've not really listened to properly for ages. And you know the sound on it is just great. I had also forgotten all about Madam Butterfly until I stumbled on it on You Tube. I have it somewhere, but I think it's on tape or vinyl, so it's not seen the light of day for a while.

So Malcolm Maclaren provided me with a lot of musical pleasure over the years.
