Its a conundrum

Since moving into our house over 3 years ago, there's one thing I have never understood, why do we have so many chimneys?

We have a two bedroomed terraced house, five rooms in total living room kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom, yet we have 8 chimneys. Maybe we have secret hidden rooms, maybe we have magical rooms we cant see. It would be nice if they would turn up because we realy need the space.
