Doctor Who?

Is this alarming crack in my coving caused by:

a) my upstairs neighbours Irish Dancing*

or

b) a split in the skin of the world, where a prisoner from another dimension is trapped???

(*I don't think they are actually Irish dancing - it just sounds like that at 5:45AM when they wander around on their laminate flooring with their outdoor shoes on!)
