A Tuscan Village Church
This is La Chiesa Parrochiale di San Martino. Before its face lift it was known as the Monastero di Sigeradi, a monastery.
The church has a face lift c 1860 and the evidence of its addition can be seen from a side view, as can an obvious elevation of a roof. SIDE VIEW
While I was taking these photographs my husband stopped to chat with Giancarlo, whose wife died recently and who was out for a post lunch stroll with his sister and niece. He was married 46 years ago today and was especially sad.
It is a cold, dreich day and his sadness only added to the gloom. The whole of Italy is in an unspoken depression about the state of the church in light of the recent scandals.
