Beautiful Day

One day I may get tired of flowers but somehow I doubt it. That would be the day I get tired of birds and trees and sunny spring days like today.

So never.

This morning we went birding at a park by the lake with good friends and saw many wonderful birds returning to breed and other birds passing through on their way up north.

This is the first dandelion of the season, blooming in the shadow of huge spruce trees. Or maybe it's not a dandelion, but it is a yellow flower. Well yellow and white to be exact. And the background came out this colour. I have no idea how.

Some of the birds we saw and heard:
- Red-winged blackbirds, males displaying their red shoulders and vying for the best territories
- grackles, cowbirds, cardinals singing, robins, tree swallows, crows, jays,
- song sparrows singing their hearts out
- a kestrel calling and displaying
- killdeers
- red-necked and horned grebes (so incredibly gorgeous)
- assorted waterfowl
- flickers, golden-crowned kinglets, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, nuthatch, tree creepers, chickadees....
