Pier at Toy Ness

I think this is a wartime extension to an older pier. It was a much nicer day today so I went down to Orphir. I crossed a marsh called The Fidge. It would have made a good newspaper headline if I'd disappeared into a pool: 'Walker Swallowed By The Fidge!!!' But I was careful. I got to Toy Ness where this pier is. I thought I'd walked this stretch before, but didn't recognise the pier so I must be mistaken. I walked along the shore of Swanbister Bay, which had two swans on it, past Smoogro House and onto Ve Ness. A group of about 30 common seals were on rocks called The Lash. Have you ever seen seals on the lash? Past Scrarratin and into Walkmill Bay. Here are more pictures.

Have just read that this is a Royal Navy crane from the first world war, used to remove seaplanes from the water.
