Abandoned Film Set

Recognise this anyone?

Just off one of the stages for the World Rally Championship event here in Jordan is an abandoned film set.

It's quite big, lots of small buildings like an Arabian village, but a few distinct buildings probably made for certain scenes, such as this grand doorway.

The palm trees have died since they were just dropped in place and never took root. The sheep emblem on the pillars are just a cheap plastic casting. The fancy door is nothing fancy when you look close, but with the magic of cinema it all probably looked quite good! Maybe quite a big budget film to have built all this?

It's been here for at least 2 years, maybe much longer. It's just breeze block with a facing slapped on to make it look like old mud walls.

Kinda spooky walking around it, a surreal break from working on the rally, filming in the hot sun to be walking around this deserted place.

Any film buffs recognise it?
