Ethnobotany of the paramo

It was a lovely afternoon to walk through the grey bristles of the paha grasses, gather wildflowers, and learn about ethnobotany with Don Jose. Seth and I invited him up the other week to help Jessie out on her project to better document medicinal and food uses of paramo plants.

We followed Don Jose and Kutu, his dog, all afternoon through the folded hills learning all sorts of plant uses for tea, stomach pains, natural soaps, liver ailments, even local adornments. We couldn´t ask for a better day hanging out with the Jose and tromping through the high meadows.

ps. Sorry to all I´m so behind on blipping! I´ve been away in the field much these past weeks and on top of it all my laptop was stolen in Cuenca. It was a low blow and I lost many of my photographs, but good things to come. I promise.
