DOUGLAS FIR
Colin Parker, at Peaston Old Schoolhouse, will take these sumptuous looking planks of Douglas Fir (which also give off such a wonderful woody smell) and with love and skill convert them into beautiful furniture or fittings.
I went to his workshop to pick up bags of his fine shavings for purposes of Raku firings for Dave Cohen, chicken bedding for Frances' egg laying brood and for general garden mulch for myself.
All for free as he doesn't like to waste anything.
Went to visit the not so well 'Twa Craws Feet' today. He looks like death warmed up but says, "I'm fine". He's off up north tomorrow to give a poetry reading. Hope he at least looks better by then, you want to look good when you make so much effort with cowboy boots, flowery shirt, red spotted handkerchief, suit jacket or etc.
