on parade

Apparently, ever year for the last 9 or 10 there has been a classic car parade in Nelson to raise money for the Hospice. This year I heard about it, turned up in Leaky and found myself in the parade in the Mini section. There must have been somewhere between 200 and 300 classics on show? Lots anyway, and the fine people of Richmond and Stoke turned out on their deckchairs and front lawns to watch and wave as we all drove round with one eye on the temperature gauge - the one thing that makes million dollar classics and the likes of Leaky similar is their dislike for low speeds on hot days...
